How Porn Search Is Different
Before getting started in making money with porn, it is important to understand that the average porn surfer is different than general traffic and bloggers. Internet marketing often looks at Internet surfers in a few different categories. These might be general generic traffic, bloggers and social media types, and technical people (like programmers and designers). Well those looking for porn are their own breed. They may fall in one of the other major classifications, but their mindset changes when looking for porn.
They Dig Deep
Many porn viewers have very specific interests. The porn industry is very niche heavy because people have very specific interests. This makes porn search different. Someone interested in some off the wall niche will search high and low to find more sites in their favorite niche. I’ve been successful at pulling in 50 to 100 people a day for a keyword where I was on page 15! That doesn’t happen in many other markets. Basically, they’ll do a search, find a site, enjoy it, run out of content. Porn searchers are constantly looking for new and exciting content. I’ve seen traffic come from listings 30 to 40 pages deep for some very specific niches.
My approach for porn marketing sits heavily on SEO, but it is important to know:
In porn, your success and income is not dependent on first page status!
I have a site that was making 50 to 100 / week, while sitting on page 8 for its keyword. You cannot do that in many markets, because people just won’t search that hard to find the shit you sell on your BANS site or to read your shitty MFA. People WILL hunt for naked women! That fact alone changes the entire dynamic!
They Click Links
People in the Make Money Online and Internet Marketing niches get use to looking at links as SEO links only. If they can’t anchor a dofollow link with their keyword, they don’t see much value in it. This is not the case in porn. Porn surfers click links! That sidebar with 50 links you see on a porn site… people actually click those. Again, this goes to the idea that porn browsers dig deep. Once they’ve worked through a site’s content, they go looking for more. A related sitewide link can bring in great traffic.
This also plays into toplists, which are a form of promotion software often used in porn. I’ll discuss it more later, but it’s basically a traffic trade script. I’ve pulled in 500 to 1000 a day by joining a few toplists. Join that with 1500 from Google a day and 1000 from direct, referrals, and social traffic… and you’re site is booming. It is possible to generate bigger numbers than this, but it depends on the type of site you’re looking to build.
So when promoting a site, don’t get so hung up on the SEO value. All links have value, even if they don’t pass juice.
Be A Porn Surfer
One of the best ways to understand this demographic, is to browse porn yourself. You need to get comfortable with this industry and the common practices it uses. Hunt down stuff you like and pay attention to how adult sites direct traffic. If you don’t have any experience with Internet porn.. you need to start searching. If you want to make any money in this business, you need to feel comfortable with it. Besides learning how to people find porn, you need to get comfortable with the content that’s out there.

I also do adsense and legit affiliate marketing in addition. Even if you don’t do adult sites, there is a lot to learn from being open to it.
